OIL CLEANSING ONLY EVER

Yes, yes, we know. Growing up, all the beauty and fashion magazines that sold us Noxema and Clearasil (🤮) also told us over and over that cleansers and moisturizers with oil and fat in them would clog our pores, break us out, the whole nine yards.

Hopefully you've evolved past buying what they were peddling, but if you haven't yet joined the oil cleansing beauty cult, read on to learn why OIL CLEANSING ONLY EVER is for you.

So, why do people everywhere love oil cleansing so much? Simply put, they get superior results to anything else on the market. When you select the correct oil-based cleanser, it's going to give you a deep down clean while also nourishing and conditioning your skin, which translates to more even skin tone, moisture retention (wrinkles be damned!), and a clear complexion.

It works so well because there are only a few things that can dissolve and pull out old oil and impurities from the skin: detergent (soap), gel, and oil. Hopefully you know this by now, but soaps and gels are a huge no-no for anyone interested in having nice skin past age 30. They irritate the skin, cause over-drying, and deplete your skin's precious protective barrier over time. So in other words, just don't.

First things first: not all oil cleansers were created equal. Some people consider Vaseline an to be an "oil-based cleanser" and while it's true that it is made from petroleum, if you have Vaseline or anything else derived from petroleum in your bathroom cabinet, go there, right now and throw it in the trash or at least move it to under the sink with the Drain-O and the rest of the... utilitarian supplies go. Mmmmmaybe to be used in the event you wake up with swollen fingers and can't get a ring off. Otherwise, there's really no other time that that toxic garbage should be applied on or in your body.
